Whispering Woods Grill, home of fine dining in Jordan, Arkansas, is currently looking for an Executive Sous Chef and a Sous Chef for our constantly growing restaurant. Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in fine dining with a culinary degree, Safe Serve Certified with knowledge of HACCP.

Executive Sous Chef function: 

  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to Whispering Woods’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
  • Oversee training of new kitchen employees
  • Assist Executive Chef with developing specials, featured items and seasonal menu changes
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by calling for service as needed
  • Work with Executive Chef to plan and price menu items. Establish portion sizes and prepare standard recipes
  • Ensure that all products are ordered according to need and received in accordance to quality standards
  • Control food cost and usage by supervising staff, proper product storage and waste control
  • Oversee and ensure that policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis
  • Assist Executive Chef with scheduling labor as required and monitoring staff to ensure minimal, to no, overtime
  • Oversee the training of kitchen personnel in safe operation of all kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Responsible for training kitchen personnel in cleanliness and sanitation practices
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for kitchen floors, mats, walls, hoods, other equipment and food storage areas
  • Check and maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points
  • Execute daily prep work and run any station as needed for lunch or dinner service
  • Any other task necessary to proper operation of the kitchen

Sous Chef function:

  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to Whispering Woods’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
  • Execute daily prep work, run and organize Sautee or Grill station
  • Apply proper product storage and waste control
  • Apply proper sanitation practices and equipment cleanliness
  • Any other task necessary to proper operation of the kitchen

Both are full time positions.
